Like many other speedsters before him, Ralph's tongue is as quick as the rest of him. He doesn't often think before speaking, which results in a flurry of unintelligible words whenever he tries to talk to someone new. He's confident, excitable, but not always easy to please--he knows when something is good quality and when it is not, especially when dealing with food. He's also hiding quite a clever streak behind that mouth. (You don't want to see the pile of finished Sudoku books or his collection of Rubik's cubes.)

Coworkers will cite his energy and enthusiasm for such a fast-paced job--it's just the right speed for him to handle without getting bored or overworked. When friends grow closer to him, they will notice that they are beginning to understand his ramblings and that he seems to behave more sincerely around them. It might take a while for him to really form an attachment to another person, because he can be quite fickle, but once he's decided that he wants you to stick around, he's a close, loyal friend. His best friend since high school, Taylor Briggs, is an example of this--though they fight like an old married couple and tease each other endlessly, there's a deep, strong bond there.

Ralph is very easy to read, though he believes otherwise. When he's threatened or upset or scared, his first answer is to literally run away from the problem, something that's ruined many relationships for him. He does come back to face the music--after a while, anyway--but he still has major problems with facing the music and dealing with assaults directly on himself. (Strangely, he's okay with the pressure at work. Something about the separation between his private self and his work self, perhaps.) He's mostly carefree and doesn't often get angry, but when he is angry, he chooses to ignore the person who's made him upset, again speaking to his distaste for immediate conflict. And, speaking of relationships...his quirky charm endears a lot of women, but his flightiness eventually turns him off. He's not nearly the ladies man he claims to be.

Despite his powers, he has no interest in becoming a full time vigilante, or to signing his life away to the NSA-- while not a directly cruel person, his desires and personality is largely drawn inward. He pursues things that amuse him for the moment; he acts on whims and impulses; he does selfish things, because he lives from second to second in a blur of action and words he doesn't think through. Along with his typical speed powers comes an accelerated rate of thought, and his train of thought tends to resemble a runaway one more times than not. It's not entirely his fault. It's just that people can't always grasp the way that he thinks.
